LODGES

The Sir David

The Sir David has been architecturally designed in a modern contemporary style and has been tastefully decorated. These 10 bedroomed masterpieces offer luxurious accommodation, coupled with unsurpassed hospitality, whilst not compromising on their guests’ comfort and privacy.

The Lodge is located on Blouberg Strand. Much of this location’s attraction lies in its white sandy beaches from which the view of Table Mountain and the city of Cape Town is spectacular. Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, can also be seen from the beach at Blouberg Strand.

The main beach in Blouberg Strand is called Big Bay. It is a paradise for surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers alike. Several national and international competitions are held here every year. Small Bay is a delightful family beach and suitable for sunbathers. The Sir David offers all in-house guests the complimentary use of funky Dahon fold-up bicycles.

Cheetah Lodge

Cheetah Lodge is a luxury African-style, family-run guesthouse and B&B just outside Mossel Bay, is surrounded by fynbos, and has great views of the wonderful Outeniqua Mountains. It is only five minutes by car from idyllic white-sand beaches, but it’s location away from busy centres ensures you have a quiet and peaceful stay and still have all the benefits of the town area. Neighbouring a game farm, guests can experience quad bike safaris and game drives. They also arrange spectacular golf tours in the Garden Route, covering 9 of the top golf courses in South Africa.

This lodge is a haven of serenity with a choice of five elegant African Style rooms, all located in the original farm house with a stunning garden. Each room is tastefully furnished with exquisite colonial furniture and all rooms overlook the mountains, the swimming pool or our manicured gardens. The Honeymoon suite, The Cheetah Room, is romantic, private and African. Enjoy a glass of bubbly in a romantic setting. Cheetah Lodge also has a solar Heated Swimming Pool.

Xanatseni Private Camp

Xanatseni Private Camp is a thatched, full board camp which provides absolute comfort while retaining the charm and ambiance of a bygone safari era. It has 5 main bedrooms, a boma area with camp fire, perfect for enjoying sundowners or evening drinks around the fire. The Camp is located within the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve (KPNR) which is one of the largest privately owned nature reserves in South Africa. The KPNR is part of the greater Kruger National Park.

Xanatseni has a team of staff living on the premises that will cater for your every need. The camp boasts comfortable, contemporary interior décor throughout. The lookout tower at the entrance offers panoramic views of the bush and overlooks the local watering hole (for those who missed out on the game drives). The camp also features a large swimming pool with a view of the surrounding bush, a fully equipped gym and it has Wi-Fi in main guest areas.

Game viewing at Xanatseni is conducted in an open vehicle and provides guests with the opportunities of seeing a myriad of wild animals including, but not limited to, the big 5 and a vast number of bird species. Head guide Ross is relentless in his search for the most perfect animal sighting, and has been working in Klaserie reserve for about ten years.

Umlani Bushcamp

Umlani Bushcamp in Timbavati reserve is a beautifully designed eco lodge that is off the grid and beaten tourist track, offering intimate and thrilling wildlife encounters, award-winning meals and a chance to reconnect with nature in one of Africa's world-renowned, unspoilt wilderness reserves. The lodge accommodates guests in traditional African reed and thatch huts as well as Eco Rondavels, which all blend naturally with the environment and provide pure comfort.

The camp is renowned for our outstanding rangers and trackers, who will not only find you the game, but will also introduce you to the wealth of flora, fauna, bird life and cultural heritage of the region. You will be taken out on two game drives per day, in open top 4 wheel drive vehicles. The morning game drive will leave at dawn and the night drive will leave in the late afternoon. There is always a ranger on stand-by for an optional morning bush walk. Umlani has a huge traversing area on Timbavati reserve; there seems to be no limit to the farms they can drive on. At their price and which such huge traverse, Umlani is a steal.

Full day: start exploring the Garden Route. Suggestion; take a leisurely drive along the coast via Pringle Bay an Betty's Bay. Then drive back to the N2 and pay a visit to Swellendam. Late afternoon, drive on to Mossel Bay.

Morning: breakfast at Cheetah Lodge
Full day: explore the Garden Route. Suggestion; drive to Oudtshoorn, visit the town and an ostrich farm. In the afternoon, drive back to Mossel Bay and visit the Diaz museum.

Full day: explore the Garden Route further east. Suggestion; a day trip to Knysna. Do a boat trip there.
